Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services (PRP).

What is PRP?

Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP) services are intended to assist both adults and children with mental health issues develop the skills they need to function in everyday life. Although the basic principles of PRP are maintained throughout the two age groups, the intervention strategies are tailored to the needs of each group.

PRP Services for Adults:

PRP services for adults aim to assist individuals with overcoming issues impacting their daily lives, while also promoting independence and improving wellness.

  • Skill Building: Adults learn important life skills such as running their household, budgeting, looking for , securing, and sustaining employment, and presenting themselves socially to others.

  • Mental Health Management: Adults receive support around understanding and managing psychiatric symptoms, along with coping strategies for stress, anxiety, or other issues that they may have on a daily basis.

  • Community Integration: PRP enables adults to connect with their community more proactively through employment, educational, or social opportunities to allow for individuality, belonging, and purpose.

  • Personalized Care Plans: Each adult visits their PRP services tailored to their own thoughts and objectives, and care is modified based on services as often as it is appropriate.

PRP Services for Children:

PRP services for children specifically seek to help adolescents build the skills they need for success in school, at home, and in social environments.

  • Emotional and Social Skills: Children learn to acknowledge and manage their emotions, build and maintain healthy relationships with their peers and families, and have effective ways to communicate.

  • Academic Support: PRP for children can provide strategies that help children succeed while in school, including organization, time management and homework assistance.

  • Behavioral Management: Children learn coping mechanisms to manage behaviors related to their mental health diagnosis so they may function at home and school.

  • Family Involvement: PRP services for children often include the family factor, providing parents with a direction on how to support their child’s mental health and growth.

How to access PRP Services?

At our agency, PRP services are available for both adults and children who are currently receiving therapy and/or medication management from us. If you or your child is already under our care for these services, you may be eligible for PRP as part of your comprehensive treatment plan.

If you or your child is not currently receiving therapy or medication management from our agency but could benefit from PRP services, we can refer you to other providers who offer these services. We collaborate with trusted partners to ensure that both adults and children receive the appropriate care and support they need.
